When you need your orthoses but they don't fit in your sandals.
What's a removable foot bed?
A removable foot bed is when the inner of the shoe under your foot can be removed from the shoe. In a sandal the foot bed is usually thicker than the removable insole in a jogger.
Orthotics made for your joggers are usually too thick to sit in a sandal without a removable foot bed and too thin to replace the removable foot bed causing your inserts and feet to sit below the rim of your sandal and not fit neatly beyond your toes or around your heel.
Do I need a new cast or scan of my feet?
If you have an existing pair of orthoses from Inform Podiatry then our orthoses lab already has a digital copy of your foot. If your foot shape hasn't changed (which we check at the consult) and there are no issues with your current orthoses then we make a new pair off your existing digital foot at a reduced 2nd pair cost.
If you don't have an existing pair a scan will be required. Inform Podiatry uses a digital foot scanner which removes the mess of casting your feet in plaster bandage.
Do I need my sandals at the consult before my orthoses are made?
Yes, because the shape and depth may vary between brands. Having your sandals at the consult allows Inform Podiatry to check the depth and shape.
How long does it take for my new orthoses to be custom made?
5-7 business days.
Will my health fund cover the cost of my orthoses?
Inform Podiatry provides quotes for your orthoses including the item codes and descriptions for your health fund. Please check with your fund for eligibility and rebates.
